Day Two Hundred and One

Actual Date: Tuesday, October 12, 2010
It's PT time again.
That silly Elmo. He's always making us laugh.

He's getting better at standing up but as you can see in this picture he still extends his back quite a bit. He started this when he was little because of the Torticollis. He could not move his head side to side when he wanted to look around because the muscle was so tight and wouldn't allow it. So, every time he wanted to look at something to the side or behind him, he would over extend his back to try to get a better look.

Because of this, his back muscles are super strong and his ab muscles are really really weak. So we have been doing a lot of exercises trying to build up the ab strength that he needs. He'll be rocking' a baby six pack before we know it!

And look at this new trick! See how much he relies on leaning that thing for support. By this stage he should be able to just hold on with his hands and stand up straight to walk with it. But because his ab muscles are so week, he has to lay his body over it.

It doesn't help that he is terrified of falling. He panics any time he thinks that Miss Nikki doesn't have a good hold on him. He sits right down and refuses to get up until he's convinced that she's not going to let go.

The last couple minutes of class they went on a little walk around the halls. He loves when they get to do this because he peeks into everyone else's rooms and makes new friends. He's such a social butterfly. Also he likes it because he gets to show off. You can see the pride all over his face when someone he walks by says "Wow Parker! Look at you big boy!"
