Day Eighty-Nine

We'd been home for a few days now and the temperature in our house was still ridiculous. We had turned it to like 82* while we were gone on vacation. But now that we were home, the air had been running non stop and the coolest it had got in here is down to 80*. So I called a air conditioner guy to come check it out.

Here's the diagnosis...Take a deep breath... we need a whole new system, inside and out! Apparently ours is too little for our house and now that the temperatures are rising, the unit we have now is not big enough to cool the whole house. The air conditioner guy said that it looks like the sitting room off of our bedroom was an add on. He said he thinks they had already purchased and installed the air unit we currently have but then they decided to add on the extra room. That made the air conditioner not big enough for the square feet of the house with the additional room.

So that's where we are. Until we're ready to fork over a few grand for a whole new system. Luckily, until this week (it was 109* today), the Summer has been pretty mild so we've cooled off some and it's been bearable 'round here. We'll see how long we can hold out for.

p.s. I love that the code inspection sticker is still on there from a year ago... How awful is that? We've owned this house for a year and I still haven't gotten around to taking it off.

Not even after I took that picture and noticed it.

I'm going to go take it off now.
