Valentines Date...Not With My Husband... Scandalous

Actual Date: Monday, February 14, 2011
Happy Valentines Day!
Sunday night we host Bible Study at our house.  For a snack I made my Aunt Ann's famous Fruit Pizza. I made a few pans because we have so many people in our study.  I'm talking like 20 something adults and at least 17 kids...

But not everyone showed up so we had left overs... despite some people going back for seconds... and thirds...

Ok, maybe that was me...  But hey, it's mostly fruit!  It's healthy right?

So I decided to take the left overs to Brian's work because if it stayed in our fridge I was going to eat it all.  Plus I needed an excuse to visit because Ava and I had big plans to Heart Attack Daddy's car.

The kids woke up to this.  I got the girls matching outfits because they LOVE to dress alike.  It's a sister thing. They wanted to wear them that day but Brooke was headed to school and she had to wear her uniform, so I promised them they could wear them to Church on Sunday.

The Puppy was Parker's present.  Brooke made that picture frame in the front there for her teacher.  She even picked out the picture she wanted to put inside.  And behind that is a tub full of her Valentines for her class.  They were bags full of Princess Valentines, Princess pencils and candy heart decorated airplane sets for them to put together.

After we dropped Brooke off at school, Ava and I went home to get our surprise ready for Daddy.  We wanted to "Heart Attack" his car.  We dug out our craft stuff and got busy cutting out hearts and a few other things. I told Ava over and over not to tell Daddy because it was going to be a surprise.

When we got to Brian's work we headed inside to take him the left over Fruit Pizza.  As soon as we got into Brian's office Ava said "Daddy we got a prize for you!"  I looked at her and said "Ava, Shhhhh."   And then she just burst into tears.  I felt so bad!

Brian scooped her up and tried to calm her down but she just got worse.  So I took her and talked to her. I think she thought I was mad at her for spoiling the surprise.  I told her it was ok and she started to calm down.  Brian walked us out to the car and after he went inside Ava and I got to work.

My partner in crime.

After we were done decorating Brian's car it was time to head to Brooke's school to see her Valentines Party and pick her up for Dance.

There she is sitting in the circle with her goodies.  I kinda felt bad for her though.  Her school is Peanut free and they have been very diligent about making sure that the other parents know not to bring anything with nuts in it.  They passed out a note asking parent's not to send anything containing nuts with their Valentines but I guess one parent must not have seen it and they brought something anyways.  So then her teacher just decided that she would hold all the candy that Brooke was supposed to get from her friends and give it to me just in case.

I know it was just to protect her but I felt really bad for her.  She didn't seem to care but she hardly had any Valentines in her bag when everyone else's bags were overflowing.

We had to leave a little early because we had to get her to Dance Class.  In the car I sorted through the candy really quick and let her have one of the "safe" ones on the way.

Brian was supposed to be meeting me there because I had a hot date for Valentines...

It wasn't him...

Poor Brian called me all feeling so bad because he was stuck on the freeway and it was shut down because of a horrible accident and he was already 20 minutes late.  And he knew I needed to get going for my hot date...

Ok I can't hold it in any longer, I was going to the Pioneer Woman book signing in Dallas!  And I was beyond excited about it.  So excited in fact that I forgot my book!  At least I remembered before I was on the road.  As soon as Brian got to the Dance Studio and give him a smooch and headed home to grab my book and head to Dallas as quick as I could.

When I go to the book store the whole parking lot was PACKED!  People were just driving around trying to find a spot.  I decided to go across the street and park so I could get in there.  It was like 5:58 and Ree was supposed to start at 6:00.

Luckily my friend Kristine had gotten there earlier in the day and saved us a spot and gotten us our bracelets.  When I finally got inside the store I could hear Ree already speaking but I could not see her.  There were so many people everywhere.  I text Kristine and asked here where she was even though I was sure I wouldn't be able to find her anyways.  She text back and said that she was right next to the stage on the left.  I tried to stand on my tippy toes and see her but I still couldn't see anything.  So I deiced to go around the back side of the stage and see if I could see anything.

When I got around the back side of the stage I spotted Kristine.  She was RIGHT next to the stage sitting on a foot stool!  She wasn't even behind the rope!  She saw me and motioned for me to come right up next to her.  I was nervous that someone would stop me but no one did.  I plopped right down next to her and my heart was pounding.

We were literally this close to the stage.

I could not believe it.  I could have kissed Kristine!  How did she possibly score these awesome seats?

After Ree talked for awhile she asked if anyone had any questions.  Someone asked if her family could come on stage too so everyone could get a picture.  I really wanted to move to the front to get a picture but I didn't want to get in trouble.  There was a girl sitting next to us and she said "I'll go if you go!"  So we both snuck down in front and snapped some pictures.

After that they called the first group up to get in line to get their books signed.  That's two girls walked up next to the stage and called out Ree's name.  She got excited when she saw them and hugged them both.  Then she told them to look in the back of the book because she put them in the credits.

They asked us if they could see in our books because they didn't have one with them.  That's when we got to talk to them for a while.  Apperently they were her High School friends!    We asked them if they would sign by their names in the book or if that would be too weird for them.  They both freaked out and were so excited.  They said we made their night.

Since we were right next to the stage they shouted out to Ree that they were famous now too and she laughed.

Jenn and Kash loved us so much that they said they wanted Kristine and I to come with them to the Lodge this Summer when they go for their annual girls trip! They asked us if we would want to do that while they were taking our picture and Kristine and I both yelled "YES!" right in the middle of the picture.  It was hilarious.

While we were waiting for our band color to be called to get in line, we went and met Marlboro Man.  Be jealous girls.  Be very jealous.  He's dreamy.  And his accent will make you melt.  We told him that Jenn and Kash had invited us to the Lodge and he said we should take them up on that offer because those girls have a lot of fun!

Alitle while after that they called our wrist band color and we finally got in line to see the lady of the hour.  I think we ended up getting in line around 8:30 or so and we were excited because we thought we might be out of there by 10:00.

Well, we weren't out of there by 10:00...

Or 11:00...

Alittle before Midnight we finally rounded the last bookshelf and we saw the end in sight.  It might as well have been Noon because I was wide awake and super excited.  I was about to meet one of my favorite people.  I seriously love her more than a fat kid loves cake!  I wanna be her when I grow up.

This was my big moment... and I'm not even sure what I said.  I'm sure I stuttered and acted a fool.

But that's alright because we got a great picture out of it!

We headed home alittle after Midnight.  I got home around 1:30 and I was still so excited and jazzed I could not fall asleep until around 3:00.  It took everything I had not to wake Brian up and tell him all about it.  He said I'm lucky I didn't.

Thank you so much Kristine for getting their early and getting such a good spot and for getting our bracelets!  I'm so glad to have met you.  I also love that you are as addicted to PW as much as me!  We're bonded for life!

Also, thank you to my hubby for letting me spend Valentines Day with my other love.  I missed you though!  I wish you could have gone too.

For the record, I did invite Brian to go with me but he said his idea of a romantic Valentines evening was not standing in line with three kids waiting to see the Pioneer Woman...

I don't get it...

Why not?

Am I missing something?

Here's the Fruit Pizza Recipe:

1 box Yellow Cake Mix
1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
1/4 Cup Water
2 Eggs
1/2 Cup softened Butter

Bake in a Jellyroll pan for 15 min. @ 350. Let cool.

Frosting

Mix Together:
8 oz. Cream Cheese
1/3 Cup Sugar
1 Tablespoon Vanilla

Spread on cooled cake.

Then just add fresh fruit of your choice.
