(This was our view of Downtown Fort Worth as we were heading for it. Nothing but storm clouds)We actually made it on the road and we were only running 4 min. behind schedule (if you know me you know that's pretty amazing)! Literally 10 min. after we started driving it started pouring down rain so bad that you could hardly see anything and traffic was just crawling. We had half of our luggage on top of the car in our new Rain X bag. It was supposed to be water resistant but we weren't sure how good it worked. (It was amazing. Nothing got wet. I couldn't believe it.)
After driving for about 4 hours like that, the rain finally let up a bit. Then we faced our next hurtle. We had actually been driving into the storm so all the roads that we drove on were flooded, especially through the small towns. I was a little nervous as the sun was going down and it was getting dark that we would come up on a big puddle and not realize until it was too late. But luckily that never happened. Gradually everything started to dry up and we were on our way and making pretty good time.
We stopped at a McDonald's for dinner and let the kids get out and run around. Luckily it was a McDonald's at a gas station because earlier in the day Brian had asked me for some chips and when I grabbed the bag to give him some they spilled all over the car. Apparently the bag was upside down and open in our snack bag...whoops. So Brian being the nice guy that he is, vacuumed them up while I changed diapers and got everyone ready to drive through the night.
